Hi Guys,

Some advice! I have just purchased a new GPU, (GTX 970) and wanted to upgrade my processor as well, however I'm not sure on my upgrade options!

I currently have an AMD A8-3870 - What could I upgrade too which will give me a good performance increase?

To be fair, my computer isn't performing badly, however I have decided its time to upgrade some of my components!

do you have a budget at all and what do you use the PC for, is it just gaming or editing as well? what ress do you use for gaming?

with current CPUs and depending on your budget if its just gaming then its going to be a I5 as the I7s are normally used for video editing with the extra cores etc.

also what case do you have?

Hi, I have just done a bit of research and found that I have best the CPU for the motherboard that I have, so I will need to upgrade the motherboard and CPU at the same time.

With that in mind, I will now be moving to Intel! An i5 or i7! I only use the computer for gaming.

Could you, or anyone link me some good motherboard/cpu (i5 or i7) bundles!

If you need to know more about my set up to make sure what I currently have will support an i5/i7 then please let me know!

Thanks.

I would wait 2-3 months for Sklake and it's new socket which uses DDR4 to be releases.

I won't be upgrading my Ram! Happy to stick with DDR3 for the moment. I just need some advice on a good motherboard & i5 bundle. Budget is around £200 - £300 Mark I guess. I will spend more, if it's right.

Well there are various bundles on offer here in that price range but if you have £402 you can get Asus Ranger with i7 cpu that will see you right for a good while and cope with anything you throw at it if you subsequently start to use photo or video editing software.
If not for the top of your budget its Gigabyte and i5 as great bundle.
