Ok im getting the E6600 and all the time i have been set on the 975x Chipset because i have heard nearly everybody saying thats the best board for that CPU. And the 965p chipset no chance for a E6600.

But could not find a motherboard that suits my needs.

So then i heard about the 680 Motherboards, i was going to purchase the Asus P5N32-E SLi nForce 680 but looking at the reviews and the rest of the 680 Boards i wasent really impressed TBH in my opinion .

So now i am asking you guys whats the disadvantage of purchasing a 965p Chipset like the Commando http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-220-AS

for a E6600 chip if any?

I got a 965P. But I had loads of trouble with it. Thats not cause of the chipset it was cause its layout is so poor.

Have you had a look @ the Asus P5B?

Yep been looking at that and the commando.

What Mobo did/do you have by the way?

The P5B Deluxe and the Commando have very good layouts i think :)

I have the motherboard in my sig. Abit AB9 Pro. Had problems fitting the CPU/HS. Had to do so much fiddling to get it secure. The board layout is just poor. Having said that its a good performer can't fault it aside from that!

There is nothing wrong with using 965p chipsets with E6600 mate, in fact the 965 was released at the same time C2D was released.

965P ocs better than the 975, that is why people are saying 965P mobos are more suitable for low multi C2Ds like the 6300 & 6400, but that doesn't mean 6600 won't work well with 965P.

I have heard a lot of good things about the commando but don't actually know anyone here who has one of these.
