hi there i just brought a 2nd hand q9450.....

installed it and run core temp and get the following:

core 0 : low 42 high 44 load 0
core 1 : low 32 high 32 load 8
core 2 : low 39 high 39 load 2
core 3 : low 32 high 38 load 0

is this rougly correct? as im a bit confused why cores 0 and 2 are quite a lot warmer than 1 and 3.......

Temps don't look to bad, full load test is best.

The 2 cores could be higher due to load, uneven heat spreader or cooler base, calibration of sensors slightly different.

Temps at full load look ok, but I would like to see a little cooler.
The AC7 I think can struggle with quads, start overclocking and monitor temps :)

You should use linX to test your cpu, generally gets the temps 5-10 degrees hotter than prime 95 (which is old now). Intel use linX to stress cpus at the factory.

I had a Q6600 overclocked to 3.2GHz, never went over 65 degrees C in 2 years with the old style Arctic 7 freezer cooler.

I would not recommend overclocking that cpu until you can get temps down. I wouldn't let it go over 70 degrees C if I were you.

excessive time haha. Just make sure you have applied a nice thin, even layer of paste. Your temps should be lower than they are.
