Hey guys,

Im kinda new here and i need some advice or for someone to help me!

Ive just recently reformatted my computer. Everything went fine but when i checked my BIOS on my CPU speed etc etc i noticed that its running low.

ASUS Striker 2 Extreme mobo
Q6600 2.4ghz
4GB DDR3 800
Nvidia Gefore GTX 260

When ive been into my BIOS and checked the CPU Speed on my chip its saying;

CPU TYPE - Intel Quad Core 2 2.4ghz Q6600
CPU SPEED - 1.59Ghz

Should this be normal? Or should that ready 2.4ghz. I dont know how ot put it back up or if that is normal, Ive not done no overclocking or anything to the chip.

Also my Graphics Card, I dont know if thats preforming at its standard level as i play some games online and im not getting the best FPS.. Counter-Strike Source for example runs at about 170fps, when my 9800GTX ran at about 150 before that.

Could anyone please give me some advice on what i can do to change anything?

Many Thanks

Ste

When not under heavy load the CPU will reduce its frequency to reduce power consumption - this is normal! When it is under load it will go back to 2.4GHZ.

That is because the game is so ancient and is more CPU limited than GPU limited.

If your ran Crysis though the GTX260 would be much quicker than a 9800GTX.

You could try overclocking the Q6600 but TBH apart from that your system has a decent specification.
