So managed to break my 1156 mobo today! There hard to get hold off now and I need the PC ASAP so can't afford to buy a 1156 from a website as I need the PC for Sunday . So I'm going to go down ocuk tomorrow , what is the best budget apec for a CPU and mobo to play games on ? Will only ever use 1 GPU and won't overclock. Money is tight at the moment

ok so over 170 but it gets you to i5

under 170 your looking at

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £99.95
1 x ASRock H61M-GS Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Micro Motherboard £38.99
Total : £138.94 (includes shipping : FREE).

could spend more on the mobo but no real need.

cannot find the benches for 3330 though so no idea if its worth the pennies to go from 2 cores with 4 threds to 4 cores with 4 threds

So is the i5 not worth it ? Does it matter if i get a cheap movbo ? Its not getting overclocked or anything so will it really matter ? Will stretch if the quad is much better in games

You can go for the i5 if you want but will miss out on nice features like more PCI lanes, USB3, SATA 3, better built quality, BIOS etc with a cheap mobo.

Says ivy is supported since f4 bios . I doubt anyone at ocuk will know what bios it has

They don`t, i asked 5UB the other week.

If you went with this "B" grade mobo, the 3450 can be Turbo boosted to 3.5Ghz. But it does`nt say what accessories are missing.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3450 3.10GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £154.99
1 x **B Grade** MSI B75A-G43 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £45
Total : £211.39 (includes shipping : £9.50).

You could get a £10 on Stoke to win 2-1@15/2 :D

if it does its no problem, download the bios from the manufacturer website and unzip it onto a USB stick. plug the SB stick in and go to update bios from USB.
Make a cup of tea and job done!
