CPU and MOBO upgrade

Hi all, I currently have a Celeron g530 and 4gb ram, I want to upgrade just cpu and MOBO and want to know which would be best, Intel or AMD and would like suggestions please.

I have an Antec 400w PSU and a MSI 750Ti GPU, plus the memory and HDD's from my current system, just want to swap mobo and cpu.

I need 2 PCI slots on the mobo for 2 old TV cards I use and prefer Gigabyte boards.

OK, lets try this. I am looking at the fastest Haswell i3 with a Giga z97 mobo, also a bigger psu.

How much of a performance boost will I get?
Which PSU, are Seasonic still good or is it all Superflower now?

Main PC use is video editing and web use. SOMEONE PLEASE REPLY!

You could do with more cores than the i3 for editing tbh... Although depending on budget I've just put a real nice G3528 /z97 rig together for a mate with a 750ti and he's over the moon with it...
Why do you need a bigger PSU?

I can live with it not being super fast, just faster than what I have.

I just thought I would replace the PSU, it is nearly 2 years old, and assumed I would need bigger.

What's your budget?
And what do you need? ATX board, chip and ram?

Just mobo and cpu, will use existing ram, HDD, PSU if its ok, gpu and case, just swap MB and CPU

Budget? Is the Celeron Sandy Bridge? What chipset is that? You might get away with a 2500k

That celeron is sandy bridge so a CPU only upgrade might be a better choice.

Can you find the model of your motherboard?

Budget £300.

Mobo is skt 1155, I think, I know its the one that isn't in use anymore, I got it 2 yrs ago and thought I would be able to just swap out the cpu when I had the cash, when I came to do it, I can't get a cpu from anywhere.

What chipset? B85, H61,H67 etc?
You need a 25/6/700k that'll drop straight in... Unfortunately you'll need to use eBay and the likes as you don't have access to our MM.

Z77 is perfect!
Scour eBay for either a 2600k or 3770k (latter being the better)

You don't need a new board... £100 should get you a chip. Slap in a 250Gb SSD and you're golden.

Nothing decent available for under £200, I really don't like buying second hand, bought one once before and they had bent the pins and re straightened them and the buggers broke off in my mobo.
