Hi all,

It looks like I'm probably going to need to buy a new cpu and motherboard as my old motherboard went wrong and am struggling to get a cpu and motherboard bought from a friend working.

So with this happening I'm now looking at buying either of these two combinations or mixture of both.

MSI z87-g45 with i5 4670k or
MSI z87-gd65 with i7 4770k

Like i have said before I would mix and match these parts.

I like the reviews I have seen on the MSI boards with high build quality being a big thing for me and good performance to go with it. These just look good value for money to me.

Performance between the the two boards is very similar but gd65 does have some good idiot proof features for people like me such as an oc button on the board itself. (Never oc'd anything before). Also simple things like a power button on the board would be useful for testing before putting it in the case.

Which combo would you like if you were looking at these two?

By the way it will mainly be used for gaming and other everyday things like word processing and web browsing. When I buy a computer I normally like to keep them a long time (5-7 years is my average) so dont mind spending a bit extra now for the extra performance that will keep it going over this sort of time period. That is the main reason I'm looking at possibly spending the extra on the 4770k.

I will still be using my MSI 7850 1gb oc edition graphics card and I'd already bought 16gb of 2x4 gb teamgroup vulcan 2400mhz ram for the cpu and motherboard i got off my friend.

So they will just go in the new board.
