CPU and Motherboard upgrade

OK so thinking about an upgrade of a CPU and Motherboard for the Mrs

at this time she has a Phenom 955 CPU and the Mobo is a 970A DS3

I'm trying to convince her to go Intel .

So what would be a good upgrade please , keeping in mind she doesn't game ?


Also the budget would be around £250-ish

She doesn't game so I think she would be better off saving her money for a ssd by getting a locked processor and a h81 board
