CPU and Oculus Rift

Hi

My Processor is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz with an overclock to 4.40GHz and comes out ahead of the recommended Intel i5-4590. Will this be suitable for running the rift?

The Oculus tool says no but then it doesn't make sense that they would say yes to the i5-4590.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I'm sure it will be fine, I've got the same CPU at a similar OC and I don't plan on upgrading it until there is something worth upgrading too.

If everything else is showing as OK for the rift then I wouldn't worry about your CPU.

You will be fine. That tool is a bit of a joke really and it tells me that my 3930K @ 4.6 isn't good enough either :D

Thanks guys, I appreciate the answers. I did ask on the Oculus support page but have had no reply for over a week.

Are you guys ordering the rift?

To be fair, that CPU is a bit long in the tooth these days. It's 5 year old tech after all.

X99/Z170 platforms both offer superior minimum FPS, which are quite important from my VR testing.

I'm finding it hard not to hit the upgrade button at the moment... Think I'll upgrade from crossfire to a 980/980ti and see how the rest of the rig copes when it gets here in April.
