I have a Gigabyte DS3 motherboard to spare. I want to build a half decent pc for a mate for a reasonable price.

I would assume most would recommend the 6300 as the best value CPU atm?

What speed ram do I need for this, 6400?

I would get the Corsair 520W to go with it as thats whats in mine and I like it!

I would re-use some parts from his old PC to keep costs down, a 6600GTX and his SATA HDD.

I will need a new case, and I guess it will be the 900 gaming one as it comes with fans galore, whats left, cooling, I suppose I would use a Tuniq Tower 120 as I have had no problems with mine.

Thanks in advance for comments!

6300 will go very nicely with a DS3. Ram should be fine too, I'd take the generic 6400 stuff unless you really need the slightly better timings, money much better spent elsewhere at the moment.

Can't suggest anything other than the corsair at the moment, my mate just got one and it is a very smart piece of kit, and this is coming from someone who has been recommending Enermax Liberty's for a long time.

Wouldn't recommend the 900 though, unless your really into the looks, its not particularly great at anything, a much better buy would be a Lian Li PC7. cheaper and a much better case. Don't let the fact it has less fans fool you into thinking it is no good at cooling components.

As to the cooler, I have a Zalman 9500 on my 6600, and its doing a good job so far, but have heard good things about that one.

Thanks for the comment

I will take a look at the Lianli, I only said the 900 as thats what I have and I like it :)
