cpu backing plate? replacement

Last night a friend brought his pc over, that he is having problems with

we decided to take his cpu off to test with another motherboard, and stupidly I let him do it (he wants to learn to build them himself)

the motherboard is an asus av8 with an amd 3800 and an artic freezer


when he was taking the a.freezer off he managed to snap the plastic holding bracket (all three prongs /sigh )

so my question is, can you get replacement brackets (it is one of the big ones with the metal backing plate on the bottom of the motherbaord)

A few retailers sell them and you can also find them on the bay. Prices vary quite a bit though so it would pay to search around.

How the hell did he manage that? He must have really abused it to break the prongs. He wants to build a pc himself? Run for cover!!!!

i had my back to him, sorting out the other motherboard and heard a crack followed by "erm"
