CPU Backplate Glued onto Motherboard

The CPU backplate needs removed so I can install a third party cooler.

However it's glued on. I've been told to use a hairdryer and then use a screwdriver to force the pins one at a time from the other side.

Is there a better method or this it?

People have said to try wriggling it but the pins are keeping it pretty much in place along with the glue. The pins would stop me from moving it side to side.

I've built countless PC's and this is the first time I've encountered this. Baffling they do this for custom build components where majority of folk use after market cooling.

I doubt it'd be glue, more likely to be a pretty strong double sided adhesive tape. In the past, I've gotten them off by running a guitar pick underneath them applying gentle pressure, eventually you'll get it off. The reason for using the pick is that it's rigid plastic so there's little (if any) risk in damaging any PCB traces.
