Hi guys!
After 4 years I've finally performed an upgrade of my computer which was an ATI x1900 to a ATI 5770
My other specs currently are -
AMD X2 6000+ @ 3.0GHZ
ASUS *Reads from sticker* M3A < Green > Made in China (It appears to be rectangular if this helps..)
3GB Ram
535W Warranty Void if Removed PSU
I was wondering if I'm correct in thinking that my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU.. I've been playing Just Cause 2 on Highest Settings (1360x768 + 8xAA/8xAF) and when i completed the Concrete Jungle Benchmark i got an average FPS of 18.6..i then turned everything to low including resolution to 640x480 and only managed 40.34 which wasn't a massive improvement considering how bad it looked
I know the real test is to overclock the CPU however i have no idea how to do so and was advised to lower settings instead and monitor the gains..
I'd ideally be looking for a new CPU anyway, preferaby a quad core but only have £100 to spend at the moment, i was looking at something like this - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-227-AM&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1825 or would it be worth just upgrading to an AM3 motherboard?
Thanks in advance
