Hello i got a new mobo a few weeks ago and overclocked my processor, yesterday it was giving machine_check_exception at it seems its the overclock. i had it at 245 =2.6ghz or w.e at 1.28v. any one know why it would cause it?

its back on default clock and running fine :/

p.s i ran memtest and no errors, prime crashed the pc when running overclocked onf ttf ot tft or w.e xD

when i first overclocked it, i ran prime 95 for like 2 and a half hours with no crash, did benchmarks etc. temps are fine there like 20 degrees idle :/ with prime 95 highest it went was 32 degrees

Increased the overvolt to 1.30v running prime 95 atm. been runnig for 3 mins :P no crash so far. temps at 32 so gna leave it on for a good while see how it runs.

Prime takes a long time to find instability, you may prefer intel burn test if not able to leave it running over night.

Neither is strictly speaking sufficient, but 20 runs of intel burn test using the maximum available memory is a lot quicker than prime and a bit more likely to find instability. I tend to test with ibt during overclocking, and run prime overnight when at whatever clock I'm aiming for and passing ibt.

cant run it over night, parents strict on electricity. ran without errors for 4 hours and max temp was 38

so it shud do for now, and i will do it tomorow or somthin and use the laptop to catch up on coursework
