CPU Cable confusion

Okay, This has been bothering me since I got into building computers.

Is this Cable

Okay to plug into this socket

Dont worry about it. It shows the board is slightly older than the power unit. I have the same issue. Just plug which ever side fits and boot up. You will be fine.

Not really an age thing as there are brand new Z77 boards shipping with 4 pin sockets.

ah good. Now i don't have to worry any more lol. I'm upgrading my board to a z77 next month, so that is good to know

I havent seen a 4-pin mobo for a while tbh, most modern ones are 8-pin

but from what i understand the voltages are identical in each 2x4-pin so it shouldnt matter what side you put in but i imagine there is a shape difference in the connectors
