Been looking at buying the E6300 (and o/clocking a little), but i've told not to bother and get the E6600 instead.

The only thing thats swaying me is the differance in cache between the two. Here's the noobie bit, can anyone explain what diff more/less of it makes?

Only planing on gaming, no encoding or anything like that, so do I need the 4mb of E6600???

Many thanks

If you are only gaming and not encoding then the only advantage the E6600 has is a higher multi, you could go half way and get the E6400 or go a little less with the E4300.

I have tested E4300, 6300 and 6600 and the cache is not really noticable in real terms.

The only time i noticed in encoding was with the quad core.

I would go for a 4300 for the price.

This will see you 3.2 ghz with ease on about 1.4v :)

Thanks, think thats another £20 towards a better monitor then! Almost starting to wish i'd just bought a pc now...

Haven't noticed a big massive diff in encoding either with the 4mb versions, as stated only with the quad core have i seen an appreciable difference.
