Whats the question?

Make sure you update the motherboards bios first or the 7700k may not work. Is the addition of HT going to be worth the big expense though because a 6600 at 4.7Ghz is a very capable cpu?

You can pick a 7700k up for under £300.. sell your i6600k for around £140 so i would say do it.. but make sure you have the latest bios update first.

I am pondering on doing the same thing its just my 6600k is still very good and i would just be doing it for kicks and because there is nothing else to upgrade to.

With the 7700K you'll need a patch to reinstate Windows 7 and 8, and to fool certain version of Mac OS. That's probably the reason why the 6700K is still holding value.

For Windows 10 ovbiously go for the 7700K. If you are lucky you can get one stable at 5.1GHz.

Off topic: Though if you have the spare cash for a new motherboard, why not go for the 8700K? The 8700K matches the multi-thread performance of Ryzen 1700, and beats everything else in single-thread performance. It will last a long while before you need to upgrade again.
