Ok, so I'm trying to install a 2500k on a Gigabyte Z68A-D3-B3 mobo, but when I try and clamp down the CPU I'm getting a lot of resistance. I haven't forced it all the way down because I'm afraid it'll damage the mobo or the CPU. This is my first time building so I don't know if this is normal or not, but I don't want to risk it.

They do require quite an amount of force to clamp down and you may even hear a crunching noise.

As long as you're 100% certain you have the CPU in correctly then you just have to go for it.

There are notches on the side of the CPU which line up with 2 lugs in the socket.
