Strange goings on....
I have no Cool and Quiet or anything controlling the cpu clock to make it jump from 3000MHz down to 2998MHz but it keeps on doing so.
It's up and down every few seconds.
IF the cpu(X2 7850 BE)is running at default 2.8GHz)or at 3GHz(overclocked only by multiplier then it still does it.
Anyone know if there would be anything that could be making it happen?
Motherboard is MA790X-UD4P

Shrug. I vote poor measurement of the frequency. Did this really need the exclamation mark?

Update the bios is the most likely fix, or just stop watching cpu z. Speeds are approximate anyway

Your computer is clearly broken and needs to be RMA'd. The entire thing.

On a slightly more serious note, the CPU frequency will vary slightly due to the nature of the clock generator on the motherboard. The CPU clock frequency is derived from the clock generator, which does not present it with an absolute value and will fluctuate over time. It will stay within given parameters, and those parameters can be altered.

However, there is nothing to worry about. I'd be more concerned about the fact you're looking at it! :O

all cpu's do this on all motherboards , some have afew -Mhz and some have afew +Mhz, its just the way the clock generator is on the motherboards.

its perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

totaly normal infact i can't remember using a pc that didn't do this from my old pentium 133 right the way through to my current system
