Wasn't sure whether this should go in here or Motherboards Forums. Basically i've clocked my 6300 to 2.8Ghz (7*400). Temps are around 44 under load. Firstly, i'm wondering if it's safe to push to 3.2? I know a lot of people have done this already but just wanted to find out what the difference in temps would be?

Secondly, my CPU Clock Ratio within the BIOS is locked and i cannot change it to anything other than 6 or 7. Ideally i'd like it at 8*400. I cleared the CMOS recently and before, i could change the Ratio to anything. Can't seem to find much on the internet about this. Any ideas?

TIA :)

The E6300 is multiplier locked, so you can only boot at a multi of 7 or less.

Just keep turning up the FSB.

But i'm sure i could up it to 8 before i cleared CMOS? Or am i imagining things?
Must be imagining things I'm afraid, the E6300 can only do multipliers of six and seven. :(

As said, just keep pushing the FSB beyond 400. I run mine at 3.2GHz with 60ºC load temps (but my airflow is nonexistent), so you shouldn't really have any problems.

Right, apologies for that then. Not sure where i got that idea from. I'll push the FSB to see how far it can go. I've got decent airflow and some good fans so i shouldn't have too much trouble. Cheers for the help guys :)
