CPU CLock readings =

Hi guys,

Just finished overclocking my new rig...but im a little confused.

Atm ive got it set to 8 x 400 (or 1600 FSB as it shows in bios)
and got it running 1:1 with my 6400 ram.

However Ive got programs giving me different clock speeds.

CPU-Z tells me Ive got 400FSB x 8 = 3200mhz

which is correct as that is what ive set it to.

However, Orthos, Core Temp and Windows System Properties is telling me that I'm running at 450 x 8 = 3600mhz which is not that Ive set it to :S

Can any1 tell me whats going on?
EDIT - made a typo in the second multiplier...it was 8 not 6

Speedstep turned off? Not too sure what it would be called, depends on what mobo your running

think its something to do with them not knowing what multiplier its running as i get the same, q6600 at 3.2 8x400 but windows says im at 3.6

Speedstep!!!!!! Drops the multi when the CPU isn't working to save power

hmm speedstep is disabled in the bios tho

and i made sure i set the 8 multiplier manually...

Keeny1979 is correct if you've got an x9 based CPU.
