was having a discussion with someone at work the other day over a coffee with regards to benefits of overclocking etc
if you have a game that say only uses 70% CPU utilisation with say a Q6600 @ 2.4 gig (stock)
are there instances where if then this game was run on same machine, but overclocked at say 3.5 gig - that the frame rates would be higher ? or would utilisation just reduce ?
I think clock speed- even when CPU is not fully utilised effects game performance - due to its ability to perform more instructions per second - but I'm not fully sure.
any ideas ?
cheers, Mark.
