i've been having problems with my new pc and am currently trying to contact ocuk but in the mean time im after some advice. my pc will hang on restarts and sometimes freeze, on reboot the cpu clock goes from 4@ 3.02 to 4@ 2.4 then next time it will be 3.02 again ... the system i bought is 2.4 stock but overclocked to 3 by ocuk. its the "Titan Accelerator" Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz @ 3.00GHz+ DDR2 System"
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...e 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz @ 3.00GHz+ DDR2 System

is the freezing problem something being caused by the overclock? unstable or whatever

thanks

The reduction in clock speed is probably down to speedstep, it slows the cpu down when its not under heavy load to reduce heat output and power usage. Its not a problem, but most people on here prefer to turn it off i think

You should speak to ocuk abaout the other issues, I'm sure they'll be able to get them resolved

according to wiki with my power options in control panel speedstep should be disabled, and it doesnt change while powered up, one time it will boot showing 3.02 on the very first screen and other times its 2.4 usually drops to 2.4 after a freeze or restart.

The problem does sound a lot like speedstep. My old system would boot up at 1.9ghz when i had it enabled.

Sorry to hijack slightly. but would overclocking a brand new titan further to what ocuk do void thier warantee? I've got one coming and feel if its only clocked to 3ghz i should be able to get more out of it.

3.5Ghz Maybe?

You mention the speed changes during the boot screen, speedstep I think should only show in windows as the BIOS should report the correct speed overclocked or stock.

Have tried doing a BIOS reset - load fail safe options within the BIOS sceen.

got a similar problem with my 14 month old Q6600 @ 3.2 ocuk overclocked, 8800GTX, IP35, 4Gb ultima system.
system threw a complete "wobbly" and now will only run @ 2.1 instead of 2.4 stock speed.
and that's my lot, not very impressed as i've just bought a 280GTX.
still, 280GTX looks nice in it's box
