So.
My 3700 SD is quite rapidly running out of date.
Although am in no position to buy a new chip at the moment i like to keep up to date especially since a friend wants to buy himself a PC within the next couple of weeks, and expects me to spec him.
So how much better is the AM2 to 939's?
How much better is the new conroe systems?
in comparison;
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800 £205 (939)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000 £225 (AM2)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 2.40GHz £230 (LGA775)
I know you can now use DDR2 memory with the AM2, but is that its only benefit over the 939?
Cheers for clearing this up and any info provided, getting a bit out of date, and trying to get back in the loop.
Edit: I see the huge cache on the conroes, is that why there so popular?
Also would it be worth in a couple of months sticking with 939 and getting a second-hand X2 when everyone take advantage of the new AMD chip coming out?
