hi all, just have a query.

I had a full system from Overclockers the very basic one..

Athlon 64 X2 4400
2gb Ram etc.

so far ive added a 500 watt antec basiq PSU and an 8600GT.

would I be ok in just dropping a new AMD X2 6000+ in or would i need a new motherboard or anything?

thanks

It will depend on what make of Mobo it is On whether it will take a 6000+, cant see it being a problem though.

Will i be able to upgrade the memory then without having to change anything else..
such as adding 2gb Corsair XMS2. Would I see a lot of difference in speed? or am i best waiting to get a bundle package?

according to this max mem you can have is 2 Gig

looking here if you update the bios to version 1001 then you can drop in a 5400+ cpu
depending on what mem you got with the system you may want to change it to a better brand and try see if you can oc the cpu with that mobo

Edit
just remembering from other post's on the forum if you got a 5200 BE they appear to clock to 3Ghz without any probs
it's all going to be down to whether your mobowill allow you to tinker with the cpu setting's
