I've picked up both an i7 3770K and an Asrock H67M-GE. I've had a 3770K but it and my mobo died a few months back. I know that a 3770K is still better than my current 6600K.

I will be going to uni so so wondering if the CPU and mobo are compatable so I dont have to mover my main rig.

A little confusing, cpu compatable with what the H67M-GE ? , if so yes , in your z170 board no, as for the 3770k being better than the 6600k, well depending what your doing thats debatable.

I mean is the 3770K compatable with my h67 asrock board. I'm considering the pros of building a second rig for when I go to uni so I dont have to move my main rig.

Yes h67 is compatible with 3rd gen I7 - you may need a bios update first though and the k is probably a waste on that board but if your not going to try and overclock it will be fine.

Do you need anything more at Uni?*

*Specific Comp Sci / Graphic Design / Media use excepted.

Well no, I will be studying Accounting and Finance so I won't be using any intensive programs other than if I have time for games but even then its just Civ V, Overwatch, LoL, Hearthstone.
So I think my laptop I will do the job. After thinking about it I will get the basics for a second PC and as many family members will need upgrades soon.

Getting a cheap 1080p monitor, mouse and k/b that you can leave at Uni would undoubtedly be a good move though :)

Oh, and if you've got enough time to play computer games at Uni, you aren't working hard enough :-P

Yeah that was my plan. Will upgrade my home setup then since I have a vga monitor and a £9.99 keyboard from my local pc shop (dont think thats competitor but it can be removed).
