Hi.

Excuse my lack of understanding!

However I think that the best available CPU for the Z170 is the i7 7700K? Can anyone confirm please?

I guess that Coffee Lake is not going to work with this board right?

Cheers.

The board exactly is this one

ASUS Z170-E Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX (MB-675-AS)

Yes, the 7700K is the best you can do. You'll need to make sure that the BIOS is updated though, as Z170 boards don't support Kaby Lake out of the box (unless you get a really late production run with a default BIOS from December last year or later I suppose).

Coffee Lake requires a Z370 board, despite using the same socket.

As above. You'll probably need a Skylake chip to flash the BIOS. Or you can send it back to the retailer for them to flash it for you.

OK cheers.

Currently use a 6400 chip so when you say flash the bios simply go to the Asus webby and grab the latest sort of thing.

Thanks.
