Hey, helping someone spec their pc but they want to keep their current pentium processor. I thought fine but ui did a quick check of the gigabyte cpu list and it doesn't have theirs in exacly:

Their processor is the "Pentium4 519 (P) 3.06 GHz:" (source http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...7770&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN)

And the gigabyte p35 mobo only supports the
: Pentium 4 519K 3.06GHz 1MB Prescott 90nm G1 84W 533

Same spec but a K instead of a P? Does this mean it wont be able to support the one my friend has? I presume its steppign but i dont want to advice someone on a mobo without knowing for sure what P and K are and if it would support the P one.

Personal opinion is as long as this processor your friend has is LGA775 and the motherboard supports a 533FSB it *should* be ok.

Dont quote me tho. If it was me, I'd take the risk - but its not my money :P

I know i would to. But like u said its not my money and he doesn't have a lot and i dont even know him properly. Its someone on a forum who came to me for help. I dont want to tell him to get something that wont work. Arg lol.

MMm well cpuz says its the 519K so i gues it should be alright?

I'm not sure if the 533mhz chips are compatible with P35.

And the Gigabyte site says the 519 isn't compatible.

Even if the FSB is supported, if the manufacturer doesn't list it as supported DONT USE IT.

Been there, broke that! :o

Well its for his wife i beleive who wont really be playing many games other tjhen warhammer online:age of reconing. I think the P4 should be alright with that so really its cheapest routes possible.
