I was wondering, If I had a zalman mushroom fan fitted to one PC, and a noctua block/fan fitted to another PC, is it likely that i could just straight swap them without having to remove the bases and all the clips behind the CPU&Mobo?

Both boards are new LGA775 Abit IP35s

Dont zalman "orb" coolers use a backplate behind the motherboard? I know mine does. So it would all depend on how the noctua fits. If it to uses a backplate, you might get away with a swap, but then again once you unscrew the zalman's mounting bracket the backplate will probably fall off, and it would be interesting to realign it.

I doubt a non zalman heatsink will fit securely on the zalman mounting brackets.
