I'm looking to get a CM690 case, and need to know the most effective CPU cooler.

On the site, someone has asked if a 155mm HSF will fit, to which they replied that the side fan mounting brackets need to be removed for this to work.

So here comes the question, is it best to have those two fans as intakes (as suggested) and a smaller HSF, or will it be better to ditch those two fans and just have a big chunky HSF?

And can anyone suggest the best that WILL fit with the fans, or the best that fits without the fans? Thermalright U120 Extreme still the best of the best?

I'm using this case.

Any CPU cooler will fit. I'm using a Noctua U-12F but I'd recommend going for the Tuniq Tower by the looks of the reviews and reports on here.

The case itself comes with 3 x 120mm coolermaster fan which I quickly discarded of due to the noise. They are'nt the loudest I've heard but they certainly are'nt the quietest.

I replaced them with 6 Hiper 120mm Hiperflow Chrome blades and a 6 channel fan controller. The difference is fantastic. Its now ultra quiet and cool.

I still have room for another 120mm fan and a 80mm on the underside of the motherboard.

On the side is room for 2 x 120mm which I have intaking air and one one the back extracting.

I would recommend going for a big chunky HSF and 2 x 120mm fans. Theres plenty of room so just do it and dont worry about it :D

If you need any more info mate drop me mail in trust and I'd be happy to help you out with some pictures and how the case looks in operation.

Will a Zalman 9500 fit in this case btw? cause im looking to purchase it aswell.

Yup it will fit.

They are pretty wide cases.

I have one with an Akasa Evo 120 on the CPU and they are monster heatsinks.

Still room to put the 2 x 120mm fans on the side also.

I have it with a tuniq tower and only 3 fans installed currently and it is extremely cool inside - note tho that only 1 side fan will fit with the tuniq installed but it really isnt a problem. U may also be interested in buying the side window which has one fan slot.

note that the mobo fan on the other side panel requires an 80 x 25 x 15, a 25 will fit but it bows the side panel outwards.
