CPU Cooler for £30-40

Not a problem.

Might scratch window, but could use little rubber caps or hose on heatpipes

round mains cord cover, anything soft that will slide over end of heatpipe

Ok, i just saw some pictures of a Phanteks PH-TC14PE in the FT02 case with the side on, which i think is the same height as the TS140? Looks like it might fit then.

Phanteks spec is 171mm but cooler is 160mm. Center fan can be as low as 165mm. End fan depends on how tall RAM is.
My Phanteks measures 167 above motherboard. 160mm cooler + 7mm CPU & socket = 167mm

Edit: Fans are another 3mm

I've got a Megahalems in my Raven RV02 atm. An excellent cooler and still holds its own with the 140mm options available now.

I'll be using the Phanteks in my next upgrade, simply because I had to buy another cooler. The heatsink itself will not touch the side panel (160mm vs Megahalems 158.7mm). The fans might touch the side panel tho, as they take the total size to 171mm. A small amount of rubber/neoprene would solve any vibration issues tho.

I think I'd rather buy one that i know for sure will fit, rather than risk getting one that doesn't. Would i be better going for one of the higher end coolers like the Noctua D14? I don't mind paying more than £30-40 if it's worth it and i know for sure that the Noctua will fit.

There are so many variables with cooler fit.
How tall is your RAM?
Does your mobo have a chip cooler behind CPU and if so how tall it it?
What fans does cooler use?
How long is cooler.. will fans be over RAM?
What is case clearance?

Fans + RAM or chip cooler height = one height requirement
Cooler = another

Personally I will believe & trust what I actually see and measure rather than manufacturer's specs.

Measure twice to be sure and than again. :D

Example is Phanteks in my R2/R3

Or Thermalright saying TY-140 is 160x140x26.5mm when it's really
151x141x26.1mm 151mm NOT 160mm!!

My mobo chip cooler spec is 40mm and fan on it is 140mm and it fits no problem. My case spec is 165mm. That's 15mm! But it fits.

I only make suggestions and offer information. In the end you have to decide what to do. :)

Fits in your budget. What you can even do later on for better performance is buy a couple of 140mm fans with 120mm mounting holes like the Thermalright TY-140. The CM612S has lots of potential for even better cooling than its stock performance. It's one of the few coolers that after upgrading fan still makes sense.

The likes of the Prolimatech are too expensive to start with and adding fans end up making the whole thing on par with the price points of dual tower heatsinks without the performance to match. With the CM, you won't have that problem. The only problem is that you will have to get low profile memory modules.

I'll probably do that then, how good is the stock fan on the 612S? Would like to get 4.5Ghz on the 3570k if possible but 4Ghz+ is fine. Also, will the Kingston HyperX Genesis ram fit below the 612S, or would i be better off with something like the Corsair Venegance Low Profile?

It's not too bad. 4.5GHz will be easily doable. Heck I can even run a 4GHz i7 920 passively using the CM612. Results in sig :).
