It's as far as my 920 goes stably but I'll be moving to x79 soon so the tests will be redone. Remember though, the 920 runs very hot compared to what's been released recently so it is still a great way to measure cooling potential by.
The internal temps of these CPU are very high once overclocked at all. Reported by programmes such as core temp. This is due to all the transistors being crammed into a very small area. At stock volts / frequency they are cool indeed. Up the volts its a different story. I am speaking about ES CPU's yes and retail could be different. Others on other forums have seen the same as me and suggested such things as stay on SB unless you can keep temps to around ambient.
