Hi,

I would like to buy a goof cpu cooler for my new system I am about to order and here are some of the specs.

Coolermaster CM690-II Advanced Case - Black
Intel Core i7-2600K 3.30GHz Quad Core Processor
Stage 5: MAX OC OF CPU, 24/7 Stability [Only]

Asus P8P67 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard **B3 REVISION**
GeIL Value PLUS 8GB 1600MHz C9 Memory Kit
Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache

I have still to decide on my power supply and will be around 600 - 750 watts.

I spend a lot of my time on encoding movies and my system runs 24/7, so I was looking at the silver arrow cpu cooler which looks amazing and is one of the best, but do you think this would be ok or overkill ?

Thanks for any help.

if you want to encode video a lot (ie almost 24/7), then you will need relatively good cooling, but you can take that CPU way above 4GHz on something relatively small and it will be fine, depends how far you want to push it. If the CPU has to last you a few years then you probably shouldn't push much beyond 4.4 anyway, in which case this or something similar would be fine

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me, my system runs 24/7, but it does not encode for that length of time though.

I download a lot, so this is another reason why my system runs 24/7 and I do want my cpu to last quite a long time, so will more than likely not push much beyond 4.4 -4.5 ghz.
