Im looking for a really good cooler from 40 to 50 pounds to push a core i7 to around 4ghz. My chip is stubborn and hot and needs Vcore.

My board does the same lol. So it is the board that is iffy then. My cooler isnt that good though. Freezer 7 pro.

To be honest my OC is never stable. Think my board is the issue. But i would need a better cooler also.

Probably not, mines under a H50 and been running at 4.0ghz for years...... Until I decided to change ram to 12gb from 6gb and updated bios last week....

Damn thing would not overclock then even by 1mhz after that. I've had 2 days of hell, corrupt bios flashes, manually shorting bios chips to force recovery and no end of boot loops.

I've done it though and I'm now back at 4.0ghz and playing BF3 all afternoon.

+1 for the vx, then add one or two good quality fans to it. Something like gentle typhoons, or if you prefer PWM fans, the akasa viper.

I want to overclock my i7 920, but unfortunately I am experiencing massive temperatures already when playing BF3, overclocking will just make it sky high :(

I have an Akasa Venom heatsink, but unfortunately, it doesn't stop the CPU going over 100 degrees c when playing BF3, which is not normal.

I also have the x58-UD3R board, and it's a sod of a motherboard. >____<
