Im looking for a quiet cpu cooler to cool an i7. I plan to switch to water cooling at some time later on when but for now I wish to get a quiet cooler. Ill be using the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 with a core i7 D0 cpu. Im not really planning to overclock just now unless the cooler can cool the cpu sufficiently. Any suggestions are welcome :D

H50 - one of OCUK Top 5 Best Sellers. They leave all memory slots free, fitted both early and latest model with AMD bracket(no probs at all) easy to fit, silent. The standard fan is ok, but better results with other make's of fans in a push > pull config -

FAN>>> RAD>>>FAN - AIR BLOWING OUT OF CASE.

cainer, I assume you are aware that it is a sealed unit, if it stays as it was originally intended, and not modified and hacked to peices, you will never ever see the water inside the loop... effectivly a water free system from your point of view, i've just installed one and would highly reccomend it, awsome bit of kit.

plus it's a tenner cheaper on this week only!

Im tempted to get the Corsair H50-1 how quiet is it? Doesnt the radiator take up the rear fan place in a case (I have an antec p183). Ive read that depending on your setup this can raise the case temperature. Im eventually going to go for a full water cooling setup for overclocking but just now Im wanting a quiet pc...was thinking of getting acoustic matting to quieten the PC.

H50

I would go for the H50-1 - a good compact cooling unit to introduce you to watercooling. I started my watercooling setup with a Swiftech H20-120 compact - a similar type of cooler. I then progressed to a separate block/pump etc on my custom set-up. The H50 is a good choice if you decide to go down the watercooling route. (p.s. - ma first post!!! lol)

I think im going to go for the Corsair H50 especially if its quiet, would it be ok to put some acoustic padding into my case to further dampen the noise from it?

Try reading the replies you get H50 > do's the word > SILENT!!!!! mean anything.

But the fans will still make noise!! My quest for a silent PC continues... I wont be getting the acoustic padding just yet. Ill give the corsair cooler a go and see how quiet the pc is.

P.S. I think I have super human hearing which is a pain when trying to silence my PC!

Hi m8, if your case fans are noisey and are 120mm standard type, replace them with Akasa Apache 120mm - very quiet and they are high performance. I'm using them and so are a lot of people in this forum -

Apache - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-056-AK&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat==

Read the reviews by people who have bought them :)

Just a tip get one of them cheap fabric covered foam mouse matts about £1, cut it into four parts. Put them under your computer case feet they will damping any vibrations from your case and so help reduce noise ;)

I've ordered the corsair h50 along. With some akssa Apache fans. I'll see how they go when I get them next week.
