Hi all,

I am looking for a new CPU cooler in order to push my Q6600 cpu to 3.6 Ghz in an Antec 300 case. Budget is flexible if the cooler fits the requirements. A cooler which is sturdy to install and fairly quiet would be ideal. I have an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro and the plastic push pins broke so easily.

I have considered :

the upcoming Akasa Venom Voodoo

the Corsair H60 - I heard the pump is quite noisy. Any owners care to comment?

Noctua DH-14

other suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers,

I'm looking at closed loop water systems my self, and seemingly the Corsair Hydro series pumps are silent, the noise comes from the stock (but changeable) fan(s).

The silver-arrow seems to be a very popular choice for air cooling, similar performance to the DH-14 but cheaper!

I read some reports that the H-60 pumps were making noises similar to a busy HDD. Some stopped after a few days but others persisted.

Not sure, I've read a fair few reviews on the H60/80/100 over the last few days and just about all have said the pump is near silent but the fans are far too loud.

@tommy2k99, the Coolit ECOII is the same as the OCUK H2Flo found here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-OP - essentially an unbranded H60, I'm quite interested to see how these perform and make sure there not just old corsair H60's that failed a QA inspection...

this, the silver arrow is £50 and still the best air cooler.
just make sure a. you case is wide enough and b. you have low profile ram.
i have a Q6600 B3 revision (hotter than a G0) and a NH-D14 and the cpu is at 3.4GHz my load temps are mid 60's.C

Consider a Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme!

I had one on my Q6600 GO @ 3.5Ghz and got really great temps,I wanted to use it it on my 1156 setup but could not get hold of an 1156 bracket. :/
