CPU Cooler installation

Hi,

Just wondering about this, usually CPU coolers are usually installed side ways on so they are taking air in from the front intakes and exhausting it toward the rear exhaust fan.

My be quiet dark rock cooler can only be installed with the fan pointing toward the bottom of the case taking air from the GPU and exhausting it toward the top of the case or with the fan taking air from the top of the case and dumping it toward the GPU

Its socket AM3, are all socket am3 coolers like this? There isn't any other to install it apart from the two methods mentioned above

AH SOCKET AM3/+

Hated it for my old Arctic Freezer 7 Pro... fan had to point up or down... its how the mount mechanisms are created and designed on the amd socket... unlike intel, where it is a perfect square, so you can install it anyway you want, amd is like a rectangle, so you have up or down... newer boards and newer coolers can have newer and different designs so they can be mounted facing the front of the case.

Best bet is having it facing down towards the gpu and exhausting out the top...
