CPU cooler mounts.

I have removed the mounts in the image below from my F2A88XM-DS2 m/b as the cooler does not fit on to it. What are they used for? I'm inserting an AMD chip.


The black pieces came from the front of the board, the other piece fell away from underneath.

The stock AMD cooler fits onto the black bits.

This PIC should help show how it has a lug at each end that the cooler clamps onto.

Most aftermarket coolers will want you to remove those two plastic bits and the metal plate, then you use the supplied parts that comes with the new aftermarket cooler instead.
