CPU cooler needed just for testing before water cooling

Hey guys,

I'm about to put together a new system with water cooling, but before I fit the water blocks etc I want to test it all on air first to make sure it all works.

It'll be on an Intel LGA1851 socket, which I believe is the same as the LGA1700, and I just need a semi decent air cooler but nothing expensive as it'll likely never be used again?

What's the least I can get away with for quality and price?

Any cheap dual tower cooler should be fine for even the higher end Arrow Lake stuff. Worst case you just crank the fans up as you'll likely only be testing for a short while I'm guessing. As you mention anything that states LGA 1700 will work with LGA 1851.

Thermalright do some around the £30 figure like the Peerless Assassin 120 and its various variations. I've used a bunch over the years for various builds and they have always been decent.

How long using it for? Do you have a large of something that can go ontop of heatspreader

I'll be installing Windows and running some stress tests etc just to make sure it's all 100%

Well that's a heatsink and heatsink sized

Bit of thermal grease and zip tie the handle so it doesn't move about, keep an eye on temps

I think you could get away with a decent single tower cooler really depending on the CPU in question. If its just for a few hours of testing then noise level isn't going to really matter much.

Something like the Thermalright Assassin Spirit 120 V2 PLUS for £20.
