Hi guys I built a HTPC for the Kids some time ago and have now given it a better CPU and intend to get a better GFX card for it (so it will play a few games ;) )as the 5450 gets rather warm when playing tower defense on low.

Now the Cooler I'm using currently is the Stock Athlon X4 AM3 cooler from my old 640 chip with an AM2+ CPU 7750 X2 unlocked to an X3 via the Gigabyte motherboard Bios.

Problem! the Stock cooler is noisy VERY noisy, just browsing the net the fan is doing 5000rpm's and only keeping the CPU at 25oCI have added another case fan to suck cool air in and have the PSU fan blowing out, unless i mod the case to accept another fan or add some vents I cannot see it being a quiet system :(

The Case is Called VISION and is from a competitor so cannot link but here is a picture.

case dimensions 338mm x 420mm x 95mm
Recommendations please..

Don't know if you are looking for a cooler still but if you are the Arctic is AMAZING.

It makes absolutely zero noise and performance is very impressive on my X3! The noisiest part now is proably the PSU fans!. So definately recommended over the scythe, I have that on a Q6600 and it is quiet but not as quiet as the arctic range!

I wasn't that impressed with Arctic Cooling Alpine 64 Pro Revision 2, but it was in a cheap, old, budget case with a single 80mm exhaust fan trying to cool a San Diego core AMD64 3700+.

Really? tbf my case is completely open, no cover so the Alpine doesn't really have any problems with airflow, I think its great, my X3 runs 24/7, at about 35C,
Delta would probably be 7C, (35-18 = 7)

Excellent for a tenner.

Remember that case! Good looking but nightmare to cool especially with a hot GPU. I used the Prolimatech and also tried the Shuriken. Performance wise the Prol is the best and I would avoid the Shuriken. You will need a fan however for the Prolimatech.
