Hey guys,

I have an i5 3570k in my rig, and while i'm not currently looking at overclocking it, it might be an option in the future.

I want my PC to be as cool as possible. Noise doesn't bother me that much.
I have a Fractal Design XL case.
I have never applied TIM or added a CPU cooler myself before.

Do you think it's worth it, and if so, what cooler has the best performance?
Also, I have Corsair Vengance RAM, full size.

Thanks!

If you have the money then go for it. If lower temps and a quieter PC are worth it too you.

Just so you know once you start overclocking you'll be addicted so get a cooler that will cope , think ahead.

Applying TIM is easy get some MX-4 or Arctic Silver 5 a thin vertical line down the middle of the CPU is best for Ivy Bridge as the CPU die is orientated that way.

As for coolers whats your thinking? you can go water with pre filled closed loop like Corsair / Antec or large heat piped coolers like the Noctua NH-D14 or Phanteks .

Read some reviews \ watch some you tube vids to help you decide.

if you have ram with tall heatspreaders, then the big dual tower coolers may not fit.
if you buy a closed loop cooler like the Corsair H-100, they will fit, but the stock fans can be loud, most people just buy quieter fans for them.

if its a new cooler, it will come with its own TIM, and will be as good as anything else you can buy.

whats your budget?

I've been pushing this thing all over the forums today but this is cheaper than what I spent on my old Noctua NH-U12P and from what i've been reading the performance is just as good, if not better. Considering the price reduction this week I would say it's well worth a look.
