CPU cooler/thermal paste question

I was trying to attach a Corsair hydro H50 to the CPU and having difficulty locking it in the ring. I moved the pump unit away from the cPU to loosen the ring a little bit more and saw of course that some of the pre-applied thermal paste from the pump was stuck on the CPU.
Do I need to clean and re-apply new thermal paste and start again or will it be ok to just attach the pump to the cPU without doing this again?
The pump was taken away from the CPU for less than a minute and all parts are brand new.

It should be fine as it takes a couple of days for the paste to settle initially. Just make sure there's no dust/dirt there and it should be ok.

Just monitor the temps of your cores to ensure they're consistent on each core. When I first installed my H50 at first the temps were a bit higher than expected but after a few days they settled down so just keep this in mind.

i am not familiar with pre applied paste but.
if i was fitting a cpu and had to relift it for some reason, i would clean off old TIM and reapply.
not doing this can cause little air bubbles (but i may be wrong)

I'm wary of this with my first build. My Antec Kuhler will have pre applied paste so i'm worried about getting it wrong first time and then messing it up .

seems to be working. had me worried for a bit when no display came on butthat was as 1 memory stick wasn't inserted fully. temps seems to be about 45deg atm of course with side off as i'm just in process of installing windows. once the side goes on it will have 1 more fan on there to cool the case itself.
bios shows CPU temps slowly increasing from 39 to reach about 45. i'll check if stable once windows installed.
mb temps are showing as about 30

sorry to be a pain in the bum and hijack this thread, but have you, or are you happy to, mount the radiator below the CPU cooler with the rad pipes at the top and give it a quick test run.

ive been asking everywhere, and no one (not even corsair) have tried it like this, so i want to know if it will work like this or not, because thats literally my only option for a decent new cooler because of my rubbish case

(theres an air bubble in the H50, and i dont know how it will affect things with the waterblock being the highest point in the setup)

i've mounted the rad on the back case but have the hydro fan blowing in but have fitted the case fan on the inside of the rad blowing air out so hopefully cooling the rad from both sides. temps seemed to be running 36-44 yesterday but seems to be stabilizing better.
nayan89 - how can you check temps of each core individually?
