CPU Cooler?

Hi,

I am building a new rig:

core i7 920 D0 @ 2.66
Gigabyte UD5
6gb Corsair Dominator RAM
Radeon HD 5870
Corsair HX 850W PSU
Antec 1200 case

I WON'T overclock until next year (want to run it as stock for a while)...
Next year I will probably overclock it to 3.8/4 ghz

Got a couple of questions:

1) Do I need a CPU cooler?
2) What CPU cooler do you recommend?
3) What is the TRUE cpu cooler I hear a lot about?

Thanks

If running at stock the stock cooler is fine.

For coolers most people recommend either the Corsair H50 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-001-CS&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395,

the Prolimatech Megahalems http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-000-PL&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395

or TRUE http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-068-TR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395.

The TRUE is talked about loads because it was the best air cooler for years until the Megahalems came along. Even now its within a couple of degrees cooling if not on par.

Youll definitely need a cpu cooler, if your gonna run stock the intel stock cooler will be fine. the TRUE is the thermalright ultra extreme, (TRUE for short) this is what i use on my i7 combo, its one of the top air coolers on the market.

Some other questions:

1) Since I'm not planning to overclock now... do I buy the cooler now or later?
2) My choice was originally the corsair H50 but I heard some people having trouble fitting it in the Antec 1200 without modding the case
3) Which is the best one between TRUE and Megahalems?

Thanks

Id buy the cooler now, apart from cooling ability they allow you to run fans that are quieter than the stock cooler, i cant comment on the h50 as ive never used one. Regarding the TRUE and the megahelems, some reviews have them within a degree or 2 of each other, some are pretty much the same, however ive seen on some x58 boards that the megahelems tends to block the ram slots a bit, (may be an issue if you ever go to 12gb of ram), i have no such issue though with the TRUE using ocz reaper ram which has pretty high heatsinks.

IMO i would buy next year when you need it. The retail fan is fine even at 3ghz. Also this time next year air coolers shoud be housing 140mm as the norm rather then 120m

I agree. Buy it when you need to. Things will be revised , made cheaper , possibly even developed better by then. So i would sit tight mate. Unless you get the sudden urge to oc like many of us here do.
