Im just about to purchase the rest of my system but im stuck on the cpu cooler.

at the moment im using the freezer 7 pro, tried. tested. etc etc

but im looking at the h50 or the akasa venom.

My room is in a converted atic, so in the winter its bloody cold but in the summer it is so hot i need aircon on all the time. do you guys think it is worth getting the h50/h70? should i stick with the freezer pro? or go for the akasa which i really like the look of with its push/pull fans?

also do the h50/70 work with i5's? as reading up on them now i came accross a review that said at the time of writting they where not supported

many thanks in advance

H50 supports 1156, 1366 ,775, AM2/AM3. Pretty much anything on the market but then so does the Venom.

I'm not sure which cooler would provide you with better cooling though.

The Venom option is certainly cheaper and can be run quieter (min speed 600 rpm) through your motherboard's PWM control.

Akasa venom has brilliant 'akasa viper 120mm' fan. I have got one and it's rpm increases as your cpu becomes hotter. It can go up to 1900rpm giving you a max airflow of 83.63cfm. I don't think there are many fans out there that will match it's airflow :)

Most of the big coolers do, or at least the fan will get in the way if you have big heat spreaders on your RAM.

I'm going for corsair dominator....not massive but bigger than some. think ill still get it and at a later stage get water cooling or the like

I've got corsair dominator ram and a Thermalright Ultra 120 - the fan is close to the ram but doesn't interfere with it at all... Granted it's a different mobo but it's another one worth looking into... I think the new one with the same design/size is the Thermalright TRUE

I find that the proximity of the fan to the ram aids in cooling the ram itself too :)

The same cooler: with the thermalright, you can lift the fan a few fins to clear the top of the ram. I have the plastic fan holder rather than the wire clips.

Going for the venom, ive read the h50 can be a tad hit or miss. I decided in the end to double my RAM to 8 gigs (2x4) so that i wont have to upgrade for a while and also can get away with losing a slot.

end of the day today and ill be a fair bit of dosh worse off haha
