So my Dad has just upgraded to Haswell and has given me his 3570K, this is a nice(ish) upgrade to me as I only have a 3470. Upgrade for me really as I'd like to overclock the new one. As I'm looking to overclock I don't want to trust the stock cooler. Will only be a modest overclock however I may decide to push a bit further. What do you recommend people.

For ideas of clearance I have a Gigabyte Z77-D3H with 8GB (2x4GB) Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey and all in a BitFenix Merc Beta, although I am looking at moving into a BitFenix Shinobi.

TIA

Will TS140 fit? Think Shinobi only has like 158-160mm CPU clearance

Matterhorn is good and a safe choice. I have a TS140, and it's tall, but very good, and very, very quiet. The fan brackets are a pain though, the RAM clearance isn't great (I always go for low profile RAM). The HR-02 Macho is also in the same ballpark, It's like a squat TS140 so fits better in cases, but takes a large amount of space on its own.

You're right, the TS140 won't fit in the Shinobi. It actually annoys me that a lot of modern cases don't accommodate it despite my much older case doing so easily. HR-02 is a good shout.

Main reason I recommend the Thermalright is because they use 140mm fans and as olivier renault says, they are very quiet. Regarding the Thermalright fan bracket, they seem to have improved it with their latest batches. Not quite as annoying to use now.

Then I probably need a couple. Mine don't quite fit on the supplied TY-140. Big fan of Thermalright in general, but those goddamn brackets :)
