Ages ago, there was a program called Waterfall. By running it, it would issue a command (I think a HALT command) to the CPU, idling it and therefore it giving off less heat.

Just wondering if such a thing exists for Windows XP, for either an AMD Athlon 1.3GHz CPU or my Intel P4 3GHz @ 3.5GHz?

i have a utility that came with either my mobo called "ASUS Cool 'n' Quiet"
Takes my 2.4Ghz Athlon down to around 1Ghz when im not using it on max.

Just installed and ran CPU Idle on my Duron 1.3GHz.

All readings taken when PC is idle, with speedfan running.

CPU Idle DISABLED:
- CPU temp: 56c
- Consumption (at power socket): 135 watts

CPU Idle ENABLED:
- CPU temp: 35c
- Consumption (at power socket): 100 watts

I'm pretty happy - doesn't do much for my P4, though. :(
