Just thought I'd make a new topic as the old one was a bit confusing.
I am 99% sure my Q6600 has died due to my previous PSU failure.
Begin story...
I initially thought it was my MB, so I sent that back, and they tested it and told me everything was ok! So this made me think ram, tested that on my brothers computer and that worked. Tested the graphics card, that worked. So it has to be my CPU yes?

What's the specific problem you're having and what are the troubleshooting methods you've used to date?

e.g. Have you done a stripped down rig outside of the case?

Right well when i turn it on using my current motherboard it does nothing, doesn't power up at all. Testing wise as i said i have tested ram and graphics in my brothers computer. And the mb has been tested by the company i got it from. And yup i tested it outside the case also.

EDIT: strangely though when I use my old motherboard (xfx 680i lt) the pc does power on but does nothing. Doesn't POST I think is the correct term? So all the fans start going etc but nothing at all happens.

Well, from your last post - it does seem to point towards the cpu being the problem. Especially, when taking your edit into account.

It's a unusual but it does happen - was it unhappy with its clock/temps before things went t*ts up?

I think it was yes, my PSU blew when I was stress testing it so I'm guessing the increased voltage and pressure took the PSU and with that the cpu :(
I like your signature picture mr plec, makes me happy taking advice from a doctor ;)
