I recently put together my first PC, I'm using the:
CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X,
Motherboard: Asrock Steel Legend X570
RAM: 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance 3600 MHz C18
Storage drives: 1TB Patriot Viper VP4100 m.2 & 1TB Samsung 860 QVO SSD
GPU: Geforce RTX 3080
PSU: Phanteks Revolt Pro 1000W
The motherboard's BIOS version is 2.3 which doesn't support Ryzen 5000-series processors. I got the motherboard in August and I waited all the way until the new 5000-series processor release to get an AMD processor. I think BIOS version 3.0 added support for the new AMD processors.
My question is, since only the CPU & RAM POST light red on the mobo, is the most likely reason the out of date BIOS? And if the CPU isn't recognized, does that mean that the RAM isn't recognized as well, or is the red RAM light possibly due to the 3600 MHz frequency? I read somewhere that the CPU's support 3200 MHz by default and that you had to tweak some settings to get it to work.
I double checked if my front panel pin connectors (Power Button & Reset Button & their LED's) are inserted correctly, with the arrow pointing to the + sign & those connections should be good.
