CPU extension cable (EPS ? )

My board Gigabyte Z77 D3H has a 4 pin CPU power "plug" The PSU has 2 x 4 pin connectors. It's a bit short but with the case is 8 pin EPS extension.

Do I plug both 4 pins in to this and then on to the motherboard so 4 pins attach and the other 4 are free ?

I'm sure most of you know what I mean even if I don;t really understand myself !

Yeah, it's a 4+4pin connector. Just connect one of the 4pin blocks.

So, only one of the 4 pins in to the 8 pin extension, then the 8 hole extension on to the 4 pin motherboard ?

You should be ok to connect it either way.

No, it's solid on both ends.

*edit* Just had another look, the mobo end does actually seperate in to 4 + 4 too.

If there's space to fit it, it should be ok.

Alternatively, look for a 4pin eps/power extension on the the main site.
