CPU fail?

I would be surprised the cpu has failed, but you never know, some things to check below that might help :)

Try removing the ram bar one module and try a CMOS reset if that fails try the other module. Is there any possibility of testing the parts in another machine.

Can you list the full spec some other members might have a idea.

AMD 3500+ (sock 939)
ECS KV2 lite
2GB ddr400

Boot only as far as the GPU stats. Would it even display GPU properties if the CPU is stuffed?
I thought I'd get nothing if the CPU was buggered.
???

EDIT: I was after a 939 processor for a while and a member here suggested FleaBay which I hate.
But the good lord smiled upon me and I got a sock 939 3500+ for £4 plus £4.50 delivery. I have since found out that the delivery cost him £6.70 which menas that his proccessor has been sold for less than £2. Would you people agree I'm doing the right thing by sending him another couple of quid to cover the postage?

My limited experience with a dead processor strongly suggests that the board will do nothing whatsoever with a dead cpu. No beeps, nothing on screen, nothing. I'm more suspicious of the ecs board.

Not terribly useful I fear. Good luck

I agree. I've never had a dead CPU, but I did once put a CPU in a board that didn't support it at the time. (AM3 chip in an AM2+ mobo without a bios update...) that gave me nothing but whirring fans. Suggests that a dead CPU will give you absolutely nothing on screen.

+1 for this. RAM problems can do some weird things to a PC. You may find that they just need reseating... If it only gets as far as showing the graphics details after an hour, then it may also be the graphics card failing to report itself properly.
